General Information <br />a. The coal beds being mined are in the Fruitland <br />formation with a Pictured Cliffs sandstone above <br />and below the lower most seam. The coal seams <br />have a Northeast strike with a Southeast dip of <br />26 degrees. <br />b. The overburden consists of loam, outwash and. <br />pediment gravels overlying sandstones and <br />shales. The overburden above the top ("A") <br />seam ranges from 30 feet to 100 feet. This <br />seam averages 16 to 20 feet thick. Parting <br />material between the ("A") seam and the ("S") <br />seam consists of a sandstone averaging 45 feet <br />in thickness. The ("B") seam averages 32 to 34 <br />feet thick with a sandstone parting from one to <br />6 feet thick. The ("C") seam is below the ("B") <br />seam about 115 feet, however, on the north side <br />of the canyon the upper seams have been eroded <br />away and the ("C") seam becomes the top seam. <br />This seam averages 16 feet in thickness. <br />2. Equipment ~ <br />I. The following is a list of the major equipment <br />to be used at the mine: <br />a. Front-end Loaders - 8 to 12 cubic yard <br />b. Dozers - D-8 and D-9 size <br />c. Hydraulic crawler backhoes - 8 to •12 cubic yard <br />d. 50 ton rear dump haulage trucks <br />e. Scrapers <br />f. Coal drill <br />g. Overburden drill - track mounted <br />h. Graders - Cat 12 variety <br />i. Water truck - 6 to 12,000 gal capacity <br />j. Various light trucks and pick ups <br />II. Operation and Inspection <br />a.
