2.04.10 Vegetation Information
(1) Following collection of baseline data, an updated vegetation map
delineating the vegetation types by dominant species will be sup-
plied to the Division.
(2) Since major portions of the surface areas have previously been
disturbed, study area will be established for each major vegeta-
tion type. The study areas will be inventoried for plant variety,
plant density and threatened and endangered species.
Two (2) study areas will be located west of the Cameo refuse dis-
posal area in Coal Canyon. Each will have an area of approximately
twenty (20) acres. One area has a south facing exposure; the other
has a north and west facing exposure. The two areas will be rep-
resentative of presently disturbed areas at the Cameo No. 1 and
Roadside Mine areas. A study area for the unit train loading faci-
lity, overland conveyor, and a portion of the Roadside Mine surface
area will be established south of the Cameo Power Plant adjacent to
the Colorado River and will be approximately 4 acres in area. See
Exhibit 23 for proposed study area locations.
(4) In accordance with Rules 4.15.7 and 4.15.8, vegetation in the
established study areas and reclaimed areas will be sampled in
the following manner:
- Randomization: A ten meter interval grid will be established
for each study area and reclaimed area. Plot locations and
location and orientation of transects will be selected using
a random number table covering the grid limits for each area.
