• beneficial use for stock watering purposes. This action would preclude <br />pumping the water from the mine and out the adit. Pioreover, the system <br />is working very well now, with only a few small pumps handling the water <br />in the mine to lift it over slight rises so that it can continue to <br />drain to the old workings of the Nu mine. It is our opinion that it is <br />not practical to collect this water and pump it back out the adit into <br />storage on the south side of the mountain. The past operators of the <br />mine have reported that there are seasonal fluctuations of flow in the <br />mine such as during spring runoffs and rainy periods. This report is <br />consistent with fracture porosity in this type of geologic condition. <br />It is our understanding that water quality analyses have been done and <br />are continuing to be done by others, but they are not a part of this <br />• report. <br />SUBSIDENCE MONITORING <br />As part of the subsidence monitoring program, we propose to cause <br />to be located a minimum of nine monitoring points. (See Figure 4) Three <br />of these points will be along the fringes of the mined area, three will <br />be over rooms, and three will be over haulage tunnels. These will be so <br />located to get data over the shallow workings, the more moderately deep <br />workings, and the deepest workings of the area. These monuments will <br />be located only in those areas that have been worked since 1976, or are <br />anticipated to be worked in the future. It is recommended that these <br />monuments be monitored at least once per year, and that for those monu- <br />ments over active mining areas, that the survey take place at least <br />• twice a year to obtain the necessary data.
