• beneficial use for stock watering purposes. This action would preclude
pumping the water from the mine and out the adit. Pioreover, the system
is working very well now, with only a few small pumps handling the water
in the mine to lift it over slight rises so that it can continue to
drain to the old workings of the Nu mine. It is our opinion that it is
not practical to collect this water and pump it back out the adit into
storage on the south side of the mountain. The past operators of the
mine have reported that there are seasonal fluctuations of flow in the
mine such as during spring runoffs and rainy periods. This report is
consistent with fracture porosity in this type of geologic condition.
It is our understanding that water quality analyses have been done and
are continuing to be done by others, but they are not a part of this
• report.
SUBSIDENCE MONITORING
As part of the subsidence monitoring program, we propose to cause
to be located a minimum of nine monitoring points. (See Figure 4) Three
of these points will be along the fringes of the mined area, three will
be over rooms, and three will be over haulage tunnels. These will be so
located to get data over the shallow workings, the more moderately deep
workings, and the deepest workings of the area. These monuments will
be located only in those areas that have been worked since 1976, or are
anticipated to be worked in the future. It is recommended that these
monuments be monitored at least once per year, and that for those monu-
ments over active mining areas, that the survey take place at least
• twice a year to obtain the necessary data. It Baas noted from our sur-
face investigations, as well as our sub-surface inspection that no
evidence of subsidence has been seen over even the oldest workings of
6
