' Brian Munson -2- April 2, 1981
3. Haul Road and Access Road Culverts: RC must provide designs and peak flow
estimates for all culverts as per Rule 4.03.2(4) or 4.03.3(4) where applicable.
Peak flow estimates must include all parameters mentioned in (2)(b)(I) above.
4. Fuel Storage Area: A berm or other runoff control practice should be placed
around the fuel storage area to prevent contamination.
5. Sediment Yield: The note at the bottom of Tab]e 2, page III - 11 is interest-
ing to me. Please cite the reference this note refers to.
6. Sediment Storage: The Division requires that the sediment storage
capacity of a sediment pond be greater than the annual sediment yield. We
recommend the storage of at least three years sediment yield. 61e also require that
a permanent marker be placed at the sediment cleanout level (preferably at the
elevation of the 60% sediment storage volume) in order to assist the operator and
inspectors in maintenance scheduling.
7. Area 2 and 3 Sediment Ponds: Until reclamation is sufficient for pond removal
ponds on disturbed watersheds must continue to meet the present regulations.
As such, pond 2 and 3 must have designs submitted which meet the requirements of
Rule 4.05.6 as described in (2) above.
mob
,~
