The letter notes the occurrence the Columbian
sharp-tailed grouse in the immediate vicinity of the permit area, which is of significance since
the sub-species is very rare. The letter mentions that the Division may wish to contact the U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) for additional information. We contacted USFWS at the
time the permit application was deemed complete. The Division will wait for comments from
USFWS regarding this and other rare, endangered, or threatened animals prior to determining
the need for any rrutigative measures.
We will forward any additional comments on the application as they are received.
