Lee Court
Lakewood, Colorado 80226
Re: Rill and Gully Plan, Animas Mine, File No. C-82-055
Dear Mr. Urband:
Enclosed is the Division's Draft Rill and Gully Policy Memorandum. It should
satisfactorily explain the purpose and requirements of formulating a rill and
gully plan. As we discussed in our meeting, the plan should include:
1. inspection frequency for rills and gullies - a frequency of once per
month during spring run-off, plus inspections after significant storm
events, is recommended.
2. the method of stabilizing rills and gullies - this should include
measures to minimize disturbance to existing vegetation.
3. the timetable for gully repair - this should also include the use of
temporary measures (i.e. hay bales) if warranted by the size of the
gully and field conditions which preclude permanent repair.
The requirements for inclusion of permanent gullies in the plan are described
in the memo.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
'~~ 0.~~
Jeffrey Deckler
Reclamation Specialist
JD/vj r
Enclosure(s)
cc: Gregg Squire
6659E
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
