Smooth grading is in progress. <br />2. Topsoil salvage below haul road D at the toe of Refuse Disposal Area 2 is incempletc <br />due to rain. This delay is not causing any immediate problem or degradation to the <br />topsoil materials. <br />3. E:rtension of previously granted variance From the requirements for topsoil salvage <br />was discussed for alI portions of Area 91 where the slopes exceed 2V:1N. Such extension <br />should be requested ir. writing. The subject areas were inspected and no insurmountable <br />problems are anticipated. <br />9. Approximately 2 pit c+idths have been stripped of topsoil in advance of the 770 <br />dragline operation. This should be adequate for another 10-12 weeks operation. The <br />portion of Area 7 to be miner) by the 7900 dragline has been completely stripped of top- <br />soil. TF.is area i.s e:cpected to be mined out this fall. Approximately 1-1/2 pit widths <br />have been stripped in fromt of the 8050 dragline and T pit width has been stripped in <br />advance of the super-front Shovel (except for 3-4 draws where the soil is still too wet <br />to handle). <br />9.14 (3ackfilling and Crading <br />The operator explained that at the time tha Eckman Park mine plan was approved, <br />there was very little coal left in pre viousIy approved mining areas. The operator <br />responded to this situation by using all available equipment to open up the Eckman Park <br />area. This resulted in a great ba c!cl og of ba ck fil ling and grading work in Areas 1, 2, <br />25, 9, and 20. The record shows that the operator has far exceeded the 500 hour/month <br />equipment corunitment that was agreed to. The contour in Area 1 looks very good <br />from the road. <br />y <br />
