~' • ~ ~ ~

~, j~ III. Comments - Com elian ce
Be_'ow are particular issues with regard to any of the above compliance items. En force.roent
actions resulting from failure to comply with t;:e Act, Rules and Regulations, and t.^.e oersiit
also are identified below.
l~drologic Balance (9.05)
1) Foidel Creek - the surface drainage from the haul road is now routed to flow into
the holding pond near. pond B rather than the creek. The culvert has been removed acid
the road will be further modified to drain directly into pond B.
2) The culvert conveying runoff beneath the haul road from the overburden pile no. 1
colletor ditch to pond A is still about half clogged to 30 to 90 feet from the inlet.
Water impounded at the inlet makes conditions unfavorable for cleaning out the sediment
with heavy equipment. The operator plans to wait till the ground is frozen to clean out
the sediment.
3) The diversion ditch has been installed around tF,e overburden stockpile no. 2.
9) Hay bales have been installed beneath the Io:aer invert of the culvert er. Cension
draining area 20' u:~der haul road E.
5) sediment pond F has been constructed and is now functioning. The structure is
nearly certified. Diversions are nearly completed.
6) A diversion ditch has been constructed along the ton of the southern facinc reclaimed
slope in Area no. 1, right below the "dish" (bowl) in the slope. Ti~is route flows into ttie
channel which Leads to sediment pond N. Another ditch has been constructed alor:g the
contour (minimal gradient) about 3/4 of the way down the hill. A11 rills and diversion
ditches have been seeded. The installation appears to be adequate to control erosion and
gullying by reducing .slope length.
Topsoil (9.Ou)
Topsoil has been pushed bacf: from the failure identified in a previous inspection report
near the 7400 pit.
E::nlosives (-1.08)
Buildings nave been removed from the storage facility. A diversion ditch has bean
constructed which directs flow From the storage pad along the road to a water bar,
which conducts runoff through the berm into the natural channel and then into pond T.
Back filling and Grading (4.14)
T.4e haul road at 'fine ro. 2 has been reduced in width to the prover width for an access
rood. The whole mine has 'peen regraded and topsoiled. Tire mine has not been waded cue
to c'ecent sno~~~rs.
H~~v~°aetation 01.15)
Tre dra:e in area E31 has been topsoiled, graded and seeded. Contour ditches have been
excavated on the east side of the draw. The area has been reclaimed north of the upper
access road.
.S
