1 <br />:~ ~ • ~~ <br />Finding of No Significant Impact <br />The technical and environmental analyses identify certain environmental <br />impacts that would occur from the proposal to expand the Somer.se[ Mine <br />(removal of seam E coal through a portal at the Blue Ribbon Mine) into Federal <br />coal. The cumulative impacts of [his mine were considered in the West Central <br />Colorado regional EIS prepared by the Bureau of Land Alanagement, 1979. <br />Adverse impacts would be appropriately mitigated to prevent harm to the <br />environment by measures specified in [he plan and stipulations. <br />Therefore, based on the evaluation of impacts described in tl~e technical and <br />environmental ass e..^,sment, we find that no significant. impacts to the human <br />environment would occur from the proposed activity. Therefore, no F.IS is <br />required, and I am approving the modification to U. S. Steel Corporation's <br />mining and reclamation plan. <br />DOtJAi.D A.
