~. <br />THE ROCKCASTLE COMPANY <br />OPTIONS FOR PONDS 2&3 <br />(1) Do nothing <br />Pros: (a) least environmental damage <br />(b) large enough to totally contain all runoff <br />(c) in-situ ponds - very stable <br />Cons: (a) no emergency spillway <br />(b) no dewatering device <br />(2) Modify embankments to ensure access <br />Pros: (a) meets landowner's wishes <br />(b) provides watering hole for wildlife and livestock <br />Cons: (a) no emergency spillway <br />(b) no dewatering device <br />(3) Push in the sides of the ponds to create a depression <br />Pros: (a) eliminates the sediment pond <br />(b) less disturbance than completely filling in <br />(c) can be designed to comply with the regulations <br />Cons: (a) will not meet wishes of the landowner <br />(b) may create an unstable area where an existing stable area is <br />(4) Remove the ponds and reclaim to AOC <br />Pros: (a) meets the letter of the law <br />Cons: (a) already reclaimed area will <br />sufficient material to fill <br />(b) Ereate a new disturbance to <br />(c) will not meet wishes of the <br />(d) degradation of topsoil by a~ <br />have to be ripped open to obtain <br />in the ponds <br />reclaim a stable area <br />landowner <br />iditional rehandling <br />
