Based on the potential fora water table to occur within four feet of the bottom of the leach field proposed for the Hay Gulch area, a piezometer needs to be installed down gradient of this leach field. This small diameter well should be deep enough to at least partially penetrate the water tab]e (minimum 10 feet in depth) and should be completed in such a manner to minimize surface effects. La Plata Coal needs to submit the following information regarding this well. a. An updated map showing the proposed leach field and piezometer location; b. A diagram depicting the proposed well completion material and methods; c. A proposed method of determining aquifer transmissivity in the vicinity of the well; and d. A proposed monitoring plan which should include a schedule for measuring depth-to-water and for water quality sampling. Also, the appropriate portions of the text will need to be revised to reflect current mine-site status. 9, La Plata Coal needs to ensure that the same soil nomenclature for the text, corresponding exhibits, and corresponding maps is employed. The text, Pages 2.04-26 to -27, and Map 4 utilize the same nomenclature (i.e.: soil associations); however, the referenced Exhibits 5 and 71 utilize soil map units. La Plata Coal needs to modify the application to insure consistency throughout the document. While reviewing the new text and new maps, the Division has identified the following instances where items are referenced in the text but not portrayed on the corresponding maps. La Plata Coal needs to update the maps to reflect the following referenced information. a. Page 2.05-6 states the mine fan is shown on Map 11. b. Page 2.05-10 states the electrical substation is shown on Map 11. c. Page 2.05-12 states the method of planned pillar extraction is shown on Map 10. d. Page 2.05-16 states the water well is shown on Map 7. e. Page 2.05-17 states the coal handling structures (e. g.: overland conveyor) are shown on Map 11.
