The thick woven fabric creates an impenetrable barrier
between the soil materials above and below the mat.
Rocky material from the upper terrace was then pushed out and spread over
the mat to create a ramp with a gradual incline.
Following completion of the conveyor construction, the rocky material will
be pulled back to the upper terrace and compacted into its original contour.
The fabric mat will be removed from the site.
All possible precautions will be taken to avoid distrubance of the marshy
topsoil layer of the lower terrace.
1
