<br /> <br />Socio-economic: The increase of 4 miners or truckers will result in a <br />beneficial impact to the area as the mine will atsort persons laid-off <br />from the oil shale industry or hard rock mines in the area. <br />%:~~. _ <br />.. t: <br />4 <br />The analysis for compliance with the permanent program can be found in <br />the Technical Analysis document cr the Ohio Creek #2 Mine. <br />Alternatives to approving the mine plan <br />Alternative 1: <br />No action or disapprove of the plan ~ ~ <br />The disapproval or no action alternative would delay or eliminate <br />expansion of the 02;io Creek #2, cause mire closure and eliminate a <br />valuable home heating resource. The operator would experience a <br />financial loss due the capital investme~it in equipment and facilities. <br />The pudic would have to seek another source for hcme heating fuel. As <br />there are only a few operators ir. the area interested in selling small <br />quantities of coal. The unemployment roll would increase by six and some <br />of the existing unemployed miners would remain out of work. About <br />120,000 tons of Federal coal would not be mined. <br />Alternative 2: Extend the Life of the Mine from 1993 to 2025 <br />This alternative would be considered if the operator obtains an <br />additional 120 acre Federal coal lease for which an application has been <br />submitted to BLN,. <br />
