~~
-5-
ac-ft/ac disturbance). The Division found that the structures
will still be capable of storing the required sediment, runoff,
and mine water. Therefore no actual design modifications will
be needed.
The Division however, encourages CYCC to pursue a uniform
sediment storage criteria either now of in the future.
8. The applicant's consultant states, within Exhibit B, that
it is important to carefully control surface drainage within
the vicinity of the modified highwall and spode slopes. The applicant has listed the value of storage coefficient
for the overburden aquifer to be 1.7 x 104 (p. 2.04.17, Vol.
1). Shouldn't this value be 1.7 x 10-4? The applicant
should correct the typographic error.
2. The applicant should submit a revised map which shows the
location of all monitoring wells to be used in the proposed
ground water monitoring program. Currently. Map 9 does not
show the location of the Fish Creek alluvial wells, well
001-5-10, and well 006-82-38.
3. Map 9 shows a "Dewaterinq Well" in the southeast cornet
of Section 29. The applicant should provide a description
regarding the proposed function of this well. It 1s assumed
that this well is completed in the [eclaimed spoils aquifer and
will be used to intercept spoils water before it teaches the
proposed portal area. If this is the case, the applicant
should provide an estimate of expected pumping rates, expected
water quality, and a description of how the water will be
handled and where discharge will occur. The probable
hydrologic consequences of the discharge of this water should
also be analyzed.
