~~ January 6, 1981
~ Llovd Edmisten and Mark Kenner
' Page 2
Pond 002 Dewatering Record
Purpose: To comply with Rienau No. 2's NPDES Permit re-
quirements by keeping a record of quantities and
quality of any water discharged from point 002
into Curtis Creek.
Procedure: The first discharge may not proceed until I have
the lab results back for a sample of the pond
water. If water meets minimum quality specifi-
cations, the pond may be dewatered using the gate
valve. I must be contacted as to when discharge
started and stopped, so I can keep a record of
total discharge, and take a quality sample. The
record book is to be kept in my office. After the
pond has been dewatered it may be refilled from
the sump. I would prefer not to dewater the
pond while mining within 300 feet of and under
Curtis Creek. Therefore, I hope you can de-
water the sump, as much as possible, before we
reach this point, and then while mining near
Curtis Creek, store water in the sump. This
procedure is due to trying to keep an undisturbed
flow record of Curtis Creek down stream of the pond.
Record Ingredients: 1. Date discharge started and stopped.
2. Time discharge started and stopped.
3. Flow.
4. Sample field parameters.
. 5. Operators initials.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact me.
DG/mjb
pc: Troy S,'ills
File
