Two <br />exist: Topic Pa'_e- <br />r.rgic Crycborolls- <br />Typic Paleboroils - 3croLLic Camborthids <br />The soils of this unit occur prig=_rily on up'_ands ant <br />formed in materials we_tzered in place `rpm so.`.t shale. <br />Slopes are gentle to mod=_rately steel at elevations <br />ranging from 7,000 to 3,000 feet. 'lean soil tempera- <br />ture is about 45 to ~i°=. These c'_ayey soils are <br />^oderately deep to deea, well drained, an'_ usually <br />contain less than 35 percent rocL fragments. Depth <br />to rippable bedrock ranges from 20 to over 60 inches. <br />Permea5ility is slow, shrinY.-swell potential is high, <br />and potential frost action is moder_te to high. Thes=_ <br />soils are used for ran~el_nd, non-irriga[ed cropl=_nd, <br />and for irrigated hay and pasturel_~d. ::alive vege- <br />tation is mostly big sagebrush, oaf:brush, Idaho fescue, <br />mountain biome and bluegr=_ss. In some areas, aspen <br />dominates. <br />argic CryoboroLls - Cryic Paleboroils <br />Soils of this unit primarily occupy mountainsides and <br />ridges. They formed in materials weatiered in place <br />from sandstone or shale at elevations ranging =rpm <br />7,500 to 8,500 :net. :?e an soil temper=_ture is about <br />40 to 45°F These loamy soils are moderately Seep to <br />deep, well drained, and usual2 contain less t`.an 35 <br />percent rock fragments, Sul someti-es :,fill contain up <br />35 percent.
