along Fish Creek, based on the presence of the stream and
waterfowl viewing opportunities. The remainder of the area
has moderate (class 4) to moderately low (class 5) capa-
bility to attract and sustain recreation.
Neither east or west are open to any type of recreation use.
Mr. William Appel who owns east indicated that the area is
closed to hunting because he has cattle in the area during
the fall (personal communication, 1977). He also stated
that no other type of recreation is permitted on the
property. When asked about fishing on Trout Creek, he said
that his property doesn't actually touch the Creek. The
southwest corner that does intersect Trout Creek is part of
a 1/3-acre tract whose owner, Mr. Alva Thompson lives on the
property. Thompson says that he does not let fishermen use
his property because only 300 to 400 feet of Trout Creek is
on his property (personal communication, 1977).
West has been closed to any form of recreation use for about
10 years, according to Mr. Arthur Hudspeth, who owns the
major portion of the tract. He said that his land is locked
and posted (personal communication, 1977).
Coal lease application C-22676 does not contain any roadless
or wilderness values.
Figure T shows the recreation capability classifications for
66
