The coal bearing sequence of <br />the Willims Fork Formation dips approximately 12 <br />n <br /> <br />degrees to the southwest, There is one northwest <br />trending fault in sec. 2, T. 5 N., R, 86 w (just north <br />of application boundary), There is no data available <br />on the exact amount of displacement on this fault, or <br />the existence of other faults or any dominant joint <br />trends in the area. <br />3. Geomornholoav <br />Landscape character in and near the three coal lease <br />applications results mostly from moderate folding <br />followed by differential erosion of interbedded hard <br />and soft stratigraphic layers of varying thicknesses. <br />4, Paleontolo¢v <br />The coal-bearing Iles and Nilliams Fork Formations, <br />overlain in places by the Lewis Shale, both contain <br />fossil leaves, ammonites, and ~oceramus clams (within <br />interbedded shales).
