The pipeline connecting the water suroe tank ~7) and the water tower (16) <br />must be located on a facilities map. Also, please explain how water from Mine <br />No. 1 reaches the water surge tank. <br />3. Several "air tunnels" are listed on the USGS topographic quad for the Thompson <br />Creek mine. Please indicate a+hich air tunnels are part of the Snowmass Coal <br />operation and which are abandoned. Also, the access road for the Mine No. 1 <br />air tunnel should be clearly outlined on a map. <br />4. Pov+er and communication lines (utility corridors) must be indicated on a <br />facilities map as required by section 2.05.3(3)(a). <br />5. The extent of the concrete conduit that contains North Thompson Creek throuoh <br />your facilities must be indicated on a facilities map. <br />6. Under section 2.05.3{3)(b)(i)(c) the Division requires the approximate dates <br />when facilities for which there are specific design criteria v+ere constructed <br />and completed. This information will assist the Division in our written findings <br />concerning the compliance of all existing structures. <br />7. Under section 2.05.3(3)(c)(V)(A) the applicant must provide a description of <br />measures to be used to ensure that the interests of the public and landowners <br />affected are protected if, under section 2.07.6(2)(d)(iv), the applicant seeks <br />to have the Division approve: conducting the proposed surface mining activities <br />within 100 feet of the right away line of any public road. This concerns the <br />mine facilities located adjacent to a county road as v+ell as the public road to <br />the truck dump site and the loadout which is located adjacent to highway route <br />82. The application should discuss in more detail the amount of traffic passing <br />through the mine due to hunters, campers etc. <br />8. The operations plan must discuss the method of "proposed Hydraulic mining" <br />in terms of method of coal extraction, equipment used, water use, etc. The <br />discussion should also include the potential for subsidence in relation to other <br />mining methods. <br />9. The application needs a more .thorough discussion of the refuse pile construc- <br />tion which includes: <br />a. source of cover material for the pile, and <br />b. characteristics of this cover material, <br />c. verification that enough cover material i~ <br />calculations, <br />d. minimum cover depth excluding topsoil, <br />e. source of topsoil, <br />f, verification of available topsoil volumes, <br />g. minimum cover of topsoil. <br />chemical analysis, <br />available, including volume <br />and <br />
