It is extremely important to <br />wildlife species of the area that this rail line be located outsider the <br />riparian vegetation of the area. Use of a rail system will reduce the wild- <br />life impact from truck traffic but proper allignment of this railflir<e is im- <br />portant. Our biologist Bill Clark in Grand Junction will be F~-aissistance <br />to the applicant in locating this line. <br />2. We would discourage the use of crested wheatgrass for vegetation <br />near roads or highways. This grass greens up early in the spring and will <br />attract any deer in the area. This will increase the possibility iif deer-; <br />vehicle collisions. <br />3. Wildlife impact due to illegal harvest, urbanization and increasing <br />demands on the wildlife resourse are not mentioned in the application.
