The materials
submitted are acceptable, and assuming a number of additional tasks to
which Ute Engineering has committed are acceptably accomplished, the applicant
should satisfy the subsidence requirements.
Ute has committed to: '
(1) Produce separate mine plan maps for both the D seam and the E seam workings.
(2) Prodvice a "subsidence monitoring map" which will show the monuments and
the safe areas beneath structures superimposed upon the mine plan map.
(3) Reinstall the subsidence monitoring monuments with a casing tube to
prevent freeze/thaw problems.
(4) Complete the photographic record of potentially effected structures.
The 180-day review period for both the Red Canyon mine and the Bear mine
expires on Rugust 78, 1981. It is apparent that, due to the complex nature
of the application review process, the final decision regarding permit approval
will be somewhat delayed in both cases.
This situation will not affect the status of the current permits under which
Bear and Grand Mesa are operating, as long as they continue to demonstrate a
desire to come into compliance with the permanent program.
If you have any questions, please give me a call.
Sincerely, _
~ --' ~
Dan Mathews
Reclamation Specialist
DM: mab
