Lamm <br />Governor <br />January 9, 1985 <br />Re: Peerless Resources, Inc. -- Coal Gulch Mine Permit Application <br />File No. C-84-067 <br />Dear <br />Pursuant to Article 33, Title 34, of the Colorado Revised Statutes as amended, <br />the Mined Land Reclamation Division hereby issues notice that, on January 3, <br />1985, an application for a permit to conduct coal mining operations, <br />File No. C-84-067, by Peerless Resources, Inc., 5528 Indian Rocks Road, <br />Salt Lake City, Utah 84117, was deemed complete for the purposes of filing. <br />All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulation <br />promulgated thereunder initiate from this day of filing. <br />The applicant proposes to conduct underground mining operations under private <br />leases with an estimated production of approximately 200,000 to 250,000 tons <br />of coal per year. The surface area to be utilized will be approximately 10 <br />acres; almost all of this area has been disturbed by previous mining. The <br />proposed mine is located adjacent to U.S. Highway 160, approximately five <br />miles west of Durango, Colorado, in La Plata County. <br />Additional information pertaining to this proposed operation is included in <br />the enclosed public notice. <br />We request that you submit, within 30 days of the date of the letter, any <br />comments to the effect of the proposed operation on the environment which is <br />within your area of responsibility. <br />Your attention to this matter is appreciated.
