Mr. Joe Carpio - 4 - April 23, 1987
4. We have reviewed the permit from the San Juan Basin Health Unit for
your sewage system. One problem we have with this permit is that you
have been required to place your "Leach bed will be on south side of
CR 120". One of the critical areas specifically addressed by our law
(CRS 34-33-101 et. seq.) is the protection of alluvial valley floors
(AVF). Since t~ Division has identified Hay Gulch as an AYE, our
law would prevent this activity. The Division also feels that it is
inappropriate to place your leach field in Hay Gulch due to the high
water table. We will contact San Juan Basin Health to resolve this
concern.
If you have any questions, please contact me at your earliest convenience at
866-3567.
Si ncerely,
Peter V. O'Connor
Reclamation Specialist
PVOC/sak
cc: Mike Savage
Tom Gillis
9111E
