If additional topsoil were needed, it would have been taken
from the topsoil stockpiles. Soils were to be tested just prior to
respreading to determine application rates of nitrogen and phosphorus. Small
tree seedlings and shrubs were to be removed from topsoil stripping areas and
mechanically transplanted to reclaimed areas concurrently with the
distribution of topsoil during the dormant season.
Upon final reclamation, rangeland areas will be reseeded with a mix of
grasses, fortis and shrubs to return the area to a rangeland-wildlife use.
Locations which had previously been used for dryland wheat cultivation will be
returned to this use.
The landowner has requested by letter that the existing access road 6e left as
constructed at the end of the 5-year mining activity. The landowner is also
in agreement with the proposed post-mining land use of dryland farming and
wildlife habitat. Mine support facilities in the wheat field will be removed
and the area restored to its present condition.
