~a~-n~a
_'z_
Snowmass Coal Company began monitoring and studying the hydrology at
the mine some time ago. In addition, our new monitoring program may help
us to better define the hydrological aspects of our mining operation.
Given these facts, Snowmass Coal Company respectfully suggests that it
prepare and file an augmentation plan, covering any injury to other vested
water rights no later than April 1, 1984. Because the Thompson Creek Mines
are not now working at full capacity, and water in excess of the potential
Thompson Creek inflow is being discharged into Thompson Creek, the likelihood
of injury to other rights is nonexistent.
It is Snowmass Coal Company's hope that the existence of this letter
will satisfy the Division's concerns regarding the water rights issue as they
pertain to the permitting process. However, if you feel that this letter
should be included somewhere in the permit please let me know so that I can
go ahead and write this into the permit application.
Sincerely,
SCOtt Jones
Environmental Coordinator
SJ:mgc
