I offer the following <br />information as discussed per our conversation: <br />Uate/'rime of visit: 10:00 am January 29, 1981, at your Meeker office at 345 <br />Market Street <br />People .involved: l from USGS (Charles Albrecht, Mining Engineer) <br />2 from OSM (Bennett Young, Geologist, and Florence <br />Hunter-Schaller, Environmental Scientist) <br />1 from State of Colorado (Fred Banta) <br />5 from Montgomery b Associates (interdiscip.U.nary) <br />Total 9 <br />'fhc purpose of the ton r. is familiarization f.or [he_ TA/EIS Ceam with the mine, <br />land area, overall status quo, and future disturbances caused by [he new <br />operation. 1'he [our by no means should he considered a critical evaluation of <br />company operation, only an orientation ef.for[ so the team can more expediently <br />worl; ~,n the TA/EIS process. Areas we specifically ~.vant to see are: <br />I) Proposed portal areas <br />2) Proposed and an[icipaCed coal out facilities <br />3) Proposed new roads <br />4) Areas that may be subject to subsidence <br />5) .lrcas that will be Smpacted by new mine development <br />b) Present underground operation in Reneau 112 and/or Northern ill; we prefer <br />this tour to be in the afternoon about 1:00 pm. 1~e would like [o familiarize <br />our people with widerground mine layout, continuous mine sections, longwall <br />sections, mine equipment, pillar pulling operations, and so forth. <br />
