Barry III, Commissioner
DATE: April 24, 1
T0: Jim Stevens
FROM: Joe Nugent
RE: Rimrock Permit
After review of the mining portion of the Rimrock permit I have the following
comments to make:
- Although little subsidence appears evident from visual inspection, the
potential for pillar failure under compression loading remains
possible.
- Can the weight of a 3 yard dragline cause failure in the tributary
support system?
- Would the dragline tip or overturn in a subsidence channel?
- How will "light" equipment work sucessfully and safely to clean the
coal shale interface, the coal pillars are at best nonuniform and of
questionable stability?
- What measures are being taken to inform, and train miners about old
workings; what safety equipment will be kept on site?
5529E
989
~~
1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203 866-3401
