Pendleton <br />Supervisor Engineering Geology <br />Pained Land Reclamation Division <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 423 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />File No. <br />Dear PIr <br />6-84-065 <br />Pendleton: <br />Reference is made to our meeting this morning regarding the <br />"subsidence sections" of Storm Kinq Mines, Inc, permit application. <br />It was agreed that Storm King will have provided tY:e Division, <br />prior to the completion of the rock tunnels (now estimated by <br />August-September, 1985), with a revised and acceptable monitoring <br />program to measure subsidence caused by our proposed coal mining <br />activities. <br />As I informed you, we have just entered into preliminary discussions <br />for a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Bureau of Piines. Part <br />of this cooperation will cover rock mechanics and subsidence. I <br />have been informed by P?r. Les Beckett of the USBOM Denver Research <br />Center that a program sponsored by the BOM has been included in <br />their 1985 budget. I have further been informed by a letter from <br />Plr. Horton, Director of USBoM, (copy attached) that they desire to <br />cooperate with Storm King. <br />The outcome of these negotiations cannot be assessed at this time. <br />Storm King Mines, Inc. hereby commits itself to furnish your office <br />within 6 months - with or without cooperation by the USBOM - with a <br />new acceptable monitoring program. <br />Your cooperation with our endeavor to bring the project to fruition <br />is greatly appreciated. <br />Yours very truly, <br />E.
