Following conversations with Mr. Floyd Johnson of OSM, I have summarized my understanding of the timetable to be followed by OSM for final approval of the Bear Coal Company plans: • February 25, 1982 -Seven (7) copies of adequacy response information as requested by Division submitted to OSM. • March 1, 1982 - Adequacy response information sent by OSM to Bureau of Land Management ("BLM") and the United States Geological Survey ("USGS") far their final review and sign-off. • March 5, 1982 through March 12, 1982 - OSM review of Division's findings document with comments to Mr. Dan hiathews as applicable. • hlarch 3, 1982 through April 2, 1982 - If necessary, preparation of environmental assessment; notification of personnel in Washington, D.C. of the urgency of the approval. • April 2, 1982 - Sign-off of mining and reclamation plans by Denver OSM office; submit recommendations to Washington, D.C. • April 9, 1982 - Final approval issued to Bear Coal Company by OSM. I realize that the timetables delineated above provide a projected schedule for approval of the Bear Coal Company mining and reclamation plans and do not absolutely represent a final approval deadline. However, they do serve as an important goal so that Bear Coal Company can maintain present levels of production and employment. If my understanding of the time frames for approval is not correct, please notify William Bear and me as soon as possible. A~~ ice.
