Shelton
Director
Re: Alluvial Valley Floor, Informal Opinion From MLRD
Our File No. C-014-81, Dorchester b1 Ffi ne
Our File No. C-DIS-81, Dorchester - Fruita Mine
Dear Darrel:
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the actions of the Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Board taken at their meeting on Fehruary 25, 1981,
relative to your requests as referenced above.
For the Dorchester Nl application, the Board found that it does not have
information which would allow it to give an opinion regarding the presence
of alluvial valley floors in or adjacent to the proposed permit area.
It was decided that further effort to resolve this question should be handled
as a part of the overall adequacy review of the entire permit application.
The enumeration of additional information required by the Division to make
the required written finding will be forwarded as soon as available.
For the Dorchester-Fruita application, the Board found that the information
provided to the MLRD is sufficient to render an informal opinion that the
Fruita Mines do not appear to be located in or adjacent to an alluvial valley
floor. It should be emphasized that the Board's opinion is informal, and
does not in any way relieve Dorchester Coal Company from its obligations to
submit all appropriate information required for permit approval.
If you have any questions in this regard, feel free to call either of us.
Sincerely,
Pe for H. Evans
J.im Herron
P.eclamation Specialist
