Memo to Dave Berry <br />Bowie No. 2 Geotechnical Adequacy Responses <br />page 12 <br />MASS MOVEMENT FEATURES -LANDSLIDES <br />Paragraph 1 <br />BRL has also proposed the amendment of page 42 of the SUBSIDENCE <br />HANDBOOK, which addresses the appropriate steps to be taken in regard to <br />"MASS MOVEMENT FEATURES -LANDSLIDES". BRL proposes to perform <br />"Pre-Damage Monitoring" and "Post-Damage Monitoring" of the known <br />landslides, in order to determine what, if any, rejuvenated movement <br />might have occurred. The proposal is acceptable to the Division. The <br />Division observes, however, that "pre-damage monitoring" is much more <br />effective if the increased frequency monitoring is commenced <br />immediately "before" retreat extraction, rather than immediately "after" <br />retreat extraction. BRL should make the appropriate correction to <br />Paragraph 3 on page 42 of the SUBSIDENCE HANDBOOK. <br />
