Box 980
Carbondale, Colorado 81623
RE: North Thompson Creek Mine and Loadout
File No. C-025-81
Dear Craig:
I am writing this letter to clear up any misunderstanding concerning the
storage of railroad ballast material at the Snowmass Loadout Facility.
Since the storage of this material is not part of the existing approved
permit amendment, Snowmass Coal Company is required to submit a minor
revision to the Division under Section 2.08.4(1)(f). The Division's
review and public notice requirements are outlined in Section 2.08.4(5)(c).
The minor revision should address the following:
1) The maximum amount of ballast to be stored at any one time.
2) The location of the stockpile(s) (indicate on a map).
3) The duration of the storage.
4) The need and procedures for topsoil salvage and revegetation.
5) The type of ballast material stockpiled.
Be aware that no ballast stockpiles may be used until the Division approves
this revision. If you have any questions please contact me.
Sincerely,
Robert Liddle
RL:cjc
cc :. Steve Self
