In order to
meet the requirements for establishing a diverse vegetation on the reclaimed
surface, the Division must set success criteria for veyetative diversity.
A11 coal operations arc required to submit baseline vegetation data, if avail-
able. Operators are required to provide Laseline cover or productivity data
by species. When this baseline information is ava.ilablc the Di vi :;ion will use
the baseline information to establis:r success criteria for species diversity.
Diversity success criteria will reflect the nature of the premininy communitu
or communities at the mine site.
Zn some instances, operators have not been able to obtain baseline veyetation
information. For these cases, the Division w.i11 set the following success
criteria. In order to demonstrate that the species diversity and seasonal
variety of the reclaimed area meets the req ui renu.nts of Ru1c •1.15.8 the
following criteria must be taken into considervtion.
a. Maximum domi Hance (rcla ti ve importance) of any one species
b. rtlinimum number of species on reclaimed areas
c. Post-mine land-use utility
- life-form representation
- canununity diversity
lerbaceous species diversit
a.
