p. 2
Trinidad Basin Mine
Apzil 27, 1981
2.04.9 Soils Resource Information

1. In Table IV-16 soil Salvage Schedule, the applicant provides an
"average depth of topsoil (in.)". Does this represent the proposed stripping
~ depth?
2. In Exhibit IV-10 Soils Report, the Soil Inventory Map (Appendix E)
is missing. This should be provided.
f
~ 3. The soils map (scale 1" = 200') as referenced in Exhibit IV-10 is not
! present. This should be provided.
4. The location (s) of sample site(s) for 109 Aiidnight Rambp, Taxajunct
need to be provided.
2.04.10 Vegetation Information
i
' 1. What does the applicant mean by "a one to one swap of disturbed land
for undisturbed land"? Please clarify.
2. The applicant's method of orienting the sampling line is not, in fact,
random. The proposed method assumes that the area to be mined (disturbed)
has a unique vegetation type associated with it. This is not the case from
my on-site observations. The applicant should select random line locations
based on vegetation type delineations on the vegetation map.
3. Regarding the applicant's proposed sample adequacy formula:
A. It is recommended that the applicant utilize the sample adequacy
formula recommended by W.D.E.Q.:
_ (Z)(t)2(s)2
nmin (dX)
