The map msut include the entire study area as defined in bl
previously. The map they have submitted does not include
enough adjacent areas nor does it map downstream from the
Permit area.
3. Water Availability - Flood Irrigation
The existence of flood irrigation and the capability of the
land to be flood irrigated must be established, AZZ flood
irrigated lands in or adjacent to the permit area should be
mapped. Zt should include any Lands that were historically
flood irrigated and the reason they were abandoned (if known).
To evaluate the capability of flood irrigation, a map or
identification of lands in the region that are flood irrigated
could be submitted. The identification should include those
lands with similar physiographic, agricultural, geologic,
climatic, hydrologic, soils and vegetation characteristics.
If other agencies or professionals do the AVF study or render
opinions that the applicant wants the Division to consider,
the applicant must submit the study information to allow the
Division to verify the finding. For example, if Dorchester
submits a letter from a professional that states that no
alluvium is present, we will need to know how he arrived at
that conclusion. (What did the study area include? How was
the survey conducted? what definitions, guidelines, or assumptions
were used? etc.)
2.10 Maps and Plans
(3) A11 maps must show the permit boundaries. Since no permit
boundary was delineated, the Division has assumed the permit
boundary to be the lease boundary. The applicant must define
the permit boundary and submit this information.
All maps, plans and cross-sections in the application must be
verified as to their accuracy. A1Z maps, plans and cross-sections
that come under rule 2.I0 directly, or by reference, shall be pre-
pared by or under the direction of, and certified by, a qualified
registered professional engineer or a professional geologist, with
the assistance of experts in the appropriate field.
R11 maps, plans and cross-sections requiring certification must bear
an original signature. However, in order to avoid unnecessary work,
only the final master copy on file with the Division must bear an .
original signature. The other copies may bear a reproduction of the
professional seal. An example of an acceptable method of handling
map verification would be to place the following statement on each
original map, plan or cross-section:
"I certify this map is correct to the best
of my knowledge, as was prepared by Mr.
who is a qualified professional Soil
Scientist (or other appropriate professional
title)."
This statement can then be properly signed and stamped by the appro-
priate registered professional engineer or the professional geologist.
(t ii
