SHELTO N, Director <br />April 4, 1985 <br />DIVISIO N <br />Mr. Scott Jones <br />Environmental Engineer <br />Snowmass Coal Company <br />Box 980 <br />Carbondale, Colorado 81623 <br />Re: Archaeology Study, Bonding Information, MLRD Permit No. C-025-81 <br />Dear Mr. Jones: <br />Enclosed please find a copy of the letter from OSM approving of Snowmass Coal <br />Company's request for extension to complete the required archaeology study. <br />With regard to another matter, our records indicate that the performance bond <br />for your operation (L/C No. 5205204) is due to expire on July 31, 1985. Our <br />regulations specify that, if the issuing bank does not intend to renew or if <br />Snowmass Coal Company intends to replace the Letter of Credit, the Division <br />must be notified 90 days prior to the expiration date. That date would be <br />May 2, 1985. If no notice to this effect is received by this date, we will <br />assume that the Letter of Credit will be renewed. At least 30 days prior to <br />the expiration date, the Division must receive written notice of the renewal. <br />This date is July 1, 1985. If notice of renewal or an acceptable replacement <br />bond is not received by this date, this Division will be forced to initiate <br />bond forfeiture procedures. <br />If there are any questions, please do not hestitate to call. <br />Sin rely, <br />Jo eph W.
