Regrading was started in the summer of 1975
and was completed in the fall of 1975. Topsoil application was
started in the fall and was finished in late October of that
year. Fall seeding efforts were hampered by snow so the area
was drill seeded using a standard grain drill in June of 19'76.
The mixture that was drill seeded consisted of the'
following species and seeding rates:
Bulk lbs.!ACre
Amur Intermediate Wheatgrass 6.0
Lincoln Smooth Brome 4.0
Barton Western Wheatgrass 3.0
Nordan Crested Wheatgrass 2.0
Oats 25.0
Alfalfa 0.5
40.5
Since reseeding all livestock grazing has been ex-
cluded from the area.
Tracts C, D and E:
Tracts C, D and E are separated only by the haulroad
leading to the tipple. Both tracts were portions of the area
mined for coal. Since they represent the approximate location
of the original highwall and received the identical reclamation
treatment they are grouped together for discussions purpose:a
here.
