Berry . <br />Coal Program Supervisor <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />215 Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, CO B0203-2273 <br />RE: I.orencito Permit Extension Request -Response to November 16, 20011 Letter <br />Dear Mr. Berry: <br />By this letter, A.P_ Maxwell, [.I.C hereby presents responses to the Division's letter dated Novemher <br />16, 2000 responding to our request to meant a six month extension for a ruling on termination of the <br />I,orencito Coal Mine Petmit due to lack of development activity. We feel that this extension is <br />necessary for mine and marketing plans to be completed fur the fun~re activities as allowed under <br />Rule 2.01.5 (2) (b) (ii). Our responses are in the same order as the questions asked in your letter. <br />1. A Permit Revision to the mine plan will be necessary due to the extensive methane development <br />on the property. A site reconnaissance was conducted on November 28; 2000 and revised plans <br />are currently being developed. The Revision will be submitted by March 1, 2001. <br />2. A general description of the revised mine plan will be submitted wrth the Yermit Revision by <br />March ] , 2UU 1. it cturently appears that the surface mine will nut be eliminated from the plan. <br />r <br />3: The railroad has been sold to A & K Railroad. We aze currently in the process of obtaining a <br />lease arrangement from them which will be submitted by December 15,2000. <br />4. !f n:quircd to reclaim, some structure demolition may occur during the winter, however, by the <br />time reclamation plans are finalized and approved by the Division and contractor agreements <br />are in place, it may be spring. No earth work would begin until reliable spring/summer wcalher <br />occurs. !'reliminazy discussions have taken place with reclamation contractors for budget and <br />decision making purposes, however, no contractor agreements have been signed.
