~~ ..
Page 2
Brian Munson
April 2, 2982
DCC must:

A. develop a stage/discharge curve using outflows generated by the
changing controls (weir, orifice, pipe) and use this curve to estimate the
head necessary to pass the peak flow given, and show that this head will allow
the required 1' of freeboard; or
B. develop an inflow hydrograph and route it through the reservoir using
the stage discharge relationship mentioned above. This method will substantially
reduce the peak flow and computerized techniques are available to perform the
tedious calculations.
6. Culvert Designs: DCC uses Manning's Equation to defend the culvert
designs which are shown. As stated previously, this method is inappropriate
for closed conduit designs. DCC should use a closed conduit hydraulics to
design t1~e culverts (see nomograph attached). Several of the culverts have
no design information given. DCC must present designs for all of the culverts.
7. Text: DCC must present a verbal explanation of the purpose of each
component of the system, describing contributing areas, peak flows, etc. It
is somewhat difficult to follow the presentation without further explanation.
/k
