Please find listed below my adequacy comments following review of the surface
water aspects of the revised La Plata permit application. I have organized nV'
comments into three (3) categories: (1) Resolved concerns, (2) Remaining
concerns, and (3) New concerns. The new concerns result from changes made in
the application. For ease of reference, I have continued with the numbering
system corresponding to the March 13, 1987 preliminary adequacy review.
Resolved Concerns
Section 2.04
8. Identify water users. See Page 2.04-21.
10. Water usage/rights. See Pages 2.05-15,16, and 20.
Section 2.05
3. Access road drainage ditch. See Page 2.05-20 and Ap. 7.
4. Show County Road culverts. See Map 7.
7. Redesign drainage system. See Map 7 and Comment 7c.
8. Resize Ditch No. 1. See Ap. 7
9. Include ditch above portals. See Map 7.
Remaining Concerns
Section 2.04
7. Hydrologic monitoring program.
Surface water is limited on the site and NPDES data will be
collected at the pond discharge. A continuing monitoring
program can be limited to ground water monitoring.
11. Leach Field.
The revised ISDS permit of April 17, 1987 needs to be included
in the permit application. Based on the potential for a water
table to occur within four (4) feet of the bottom of the leach
field, a monitoring well should he placed down gradient of the
leach field. Water level should be monitored once per month
and reported to the Division quarterly.
