C0~41•icR'I
Culverts
2. The application does not contain information on specific methods used
for estimation of peak flows at culvert installations. The applicant
should specify how each peak flow estimate was obtained and give the
input parameters and equations used.
RESPONSE
' The parameters and equations used to compute peak flows are as follows:
Culverts sized using "Procedures for Determining Peak Flows in Colorado"
a. Used 10-year, 24-hour storm ~'8"'"
b, Used steep slope conditions 6
c. CN = 70 for undisturbed areas /1 G y GN /~ ~ G~ ~ Bin-
d. CN = 86 for disturbed areas /'1 J
e. The 12" diameter culverts are sized for a maximum local drainage
basin of 31 acres. Some culverts are oversized because of a smaller
basin area, however, 12" diameter was smallest size used far main-
tenance purposes.
