3. The Rockcastle Company wishes to delete Pits 7 & $ from the permit at this
time. The Rockcastle Company realizes that in order to mine Pits 7 & 8.
a technical revision to the permit will be required.
' XIX. The Mining Plan Map has been revised to reflect the present location of
the shop area. The shop building is a frame building about 40'x100'
covered with corrugated metal. The foundation is prepared and compacted
' earth. There is no concrete foundation. Runoff from the shop area will
drain into Pond 4.
The explosives storage area is proposed to be moved to an area just off
the haul road to Pit 4. The proposed location is shown on the Mining
' Plan Map.
' XX. 1. All the roads (except Pit 4 haul road) were completed prior to December, 1981.
The existing roads (no longer haul roads) were begun in 1978 and completed
' in 1979. Inside ditches along the roads divert water to the nearest culvert
are operational. There have been no inspection reports noting problems with
' existing roads. No problems are anticipated upon abandonment.
2. No additional haul roads will be constructed during this permit term.
1
3. Since Pits 7 & 8 will not be constructed during this permit term, no
haul roads will be built to those areas. The road between Pits 5 & 6
is needed to join a pre-existing ranch road. This ranch road is shown
' on the USGS topo maps and a portion of it can be seen on the Mining Plan
Map.
' XXI. All overburden and topsoil has been replaced at Pits 1, 2, 3, 5, & 6.
The only active pit is Pit 4. The expensive portion of reclamation
(backfilling, grading, and topsoiling) has been accomplished everywhere
but at the active pit. Pit 1 was first seeded with a temporary seed
mixture in June, 1981. Permanent seed was placed on Pit 1 in October, 1981.
Pit 2 was seeded with a temporary crop in July, 1982 and then a permanent
' seed mix in October, 1982. Pit 3 was seeded in 1983. Pit 5 and Pit 6
were also seeded in 1983.
The Rockcastle Company has an excellent history of reclamation. The
Rockcastle Company will continue to manage (and reseed as necessary)
' the reclaimed areas until the bond is released.

1
