C-96-083, BOWIE RESOURCES LTD.
I have finished my review of the operator's responses, stated in a
letter dated June 20, 1996, to the Division's adequacy letter of
May 31, 1996. The questions that I had asked were question numbers
12 through 17, 29 through 63, 66, 72, 79, and 82 through 86. The
following are my comments:
J12. Bowie Resources, Limited (BRL) submitted Volume III, Exhibit
3, Completion Diagrams. However, the text on page 2.04-22
references 13 drill hole completion drawings, and only 12
completion drawings are presented in Exhibit 3 of Volume 3.
Please submit the remaining completion drawing. Also, the
operator should add references to the completion drawing for
DH-38 and to the missing completion drawing on the cover page
for that exhibit.
~13. The Division requested that BRL provide the reasoning why no
ground water studies were conducted outside of the permit
boundary. BRL responded by referring to a letter, dated April
11, 1995, which summarized an April 7, 1995 meeting between
BRL and the Division. BRL contends that the present hydrologic
monitoring program was approved at that meeting.
'~14. The Division has no further concerns. BRL pointed out that the
three alluvial wells were located outside the mapping area and
had been mentioned only as examples of variable water levels
in the alluvium. ,~/J At~~( ~xl~S W' ~4~ z~, - +n.~ cG~u~-S
/ L
15. BRL supplied revised page 2.04-23, which adds a reference to ~„
Section 2.06.8, which discusses AVF's. On pages 2.06-2 and J
2.06-3 of that section, it is stated that the North Fork of
the Gunnison alluvial valley floor will not be affected by i~l
mining operations. On page 2.06-3, it is stated that the lower 2'C
portion of the planned disturbance area is on colluvium which
contains little or no ground water. colluvium can still
transmit ground water, without storing the water within its
