However, reviewing this cor-
respondence, this is not what it says.
The April 23rd letter from the State of Colorado indicates that they have
searched their files for an irrevocable letter of credit (not for a bond)
and that they found none. This does not surprise me, since they weren't
ever holding a letter of credit; we were holding a letter of credit backing
the issuance of the bond.
They also went on to state that they were attaching a copy of an earlier
letter indicating the release of the surety. However, looking back at the
March 21 1980 letter that they attached, it indicates that they were
releasing a $2,500 cashier's check. Again, not a bond.
At this point, what we need is a letter addressed specifically to us from
the Reclamation Department State of Colorado referencing our bond number,
269584, originally issued July 7, 1977 and indicating that this bond is
totally released. If they cannot find a copy of this bond and all permits
have been satisfied, then they ought to be able to write us to that degree.
We will, however, need specific release in order to close the file and
return the collateral, and your help on this would be greatly appreciated.
ours very truly
LAWYERS SURETY CORPARATION /E'%~~~_,~ ,~ / .
~~ %`C/'//// _ ~ n
Frederick S.
