Proiect Description <br />The following undertaking is located in: <br />Moffat County <br />8143(170) <br />~~, ~- <br />Y ~ •y... <br />PPR^.. <br />~~ ~, ~ G 12 1994 <br />\~ <br />,L >s,~~.'ri'r'~ <br />~Py ~~e°~o S <br />o\~`e~a~s <br />O`~~5~~~ <br />T 5 N, R 87 W, Sections 5, 7, 8, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 29, 30 6 <br />T 6 N, R 87 W, Sections 28, 29, 6 32. <br />Project Name: Peabody Western Coal Company's Yoast Mine. <br />This undertaking includes (describe type, scope, schedule, acreage, methods of <br />undertaking): The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) plans to authorize Peabody <br />Western Coal Company to operate the Yoast Mine, an open pit coal mine located <br />several mines south-southeast of Hayden, Colorado: Ground disturbance will <br />essentially consist of mining coal from the open pit mine and construction of a <br />haul road which leads north from the mine to Routt County Road 27. The permit <br />area encompasses an estimated area of 2,660 acres. The permit area is comprised <br />of 2,280 acres of private land that is mostly underlain by federal coal, 320 <br />acres of BLM land, and 60 acres of state land. Haul road construction is <br />estimated to begin in 1995 with mining slated to begin in 1997 and continuing to <br />2010. <br />Due to the above Federal undertaking (as determined by the Bureau of Land <br />Management) and Western Cultural Resource Management and Metcalf Archaeological <br />Consultants ,and pursuant to the Programmatic Agreement (2/6/87), the BLM seeks <br />your concurrence in the following action(s): <br />(Check as appropriate, below) <br />X Determination of Eligibility <br />X Determination of Effect <br />Method of Treatment (if not avoided) <br />
