2.04.9 Soils Resource information
The soils in the permit area are covered by the Ayon-
Capulin (AC) unit which is broken down into its fractional
components of approximately 50~ Ayon soils type (Cobbly
Foothills) and 50~ Capulin soil type (Loamy Plains). Outside
the permit area the Ayon-Capulin is not separated into its
components, and is described with adjacent areas covered with
Pinon=Juniper Woodlands (PjE), Loamy Plains (CpC), and Loamy
Foothills (~liD). A general description of these soils is shown
in Exhibit H (a), and the soil types are plotted on Map Ho. 4.
The disturbed area of the permit area application covers
the open pit areas and adjacent areas which must be reclaimed,
and totals 19.78 acres. This area has been divided into four
five (5) acre plots which are sectional to the topography, and
soil samples have been taken from excavations dug in each plot.
The soil sample locations are shown on Map No. 4. A description
of each soil sample was made, on site, by Mr. Lee A. Neve of the
Soli Conservation Service and his soil sample descriptions are
presented in Exhibit h (b).
The 'A' and 'd' soil types from each soil sample location
was subsequently analyzed by the Colorado State University Soil
Testing Laboratory for the following: ph, E. C. mmhosJcm,
Lime(estj, ~ O.M., nOs-N, P, K, cn, Fe, Mn, Cu, Ca, pg, Na, K,
SAR, ~ Sat, ~ Sand, ~ Silt,' Clay, and Texture. These results
1
