The proposed operations would be conducted as an extension of <br />presently-approved underground mining operations on federal coal lease <br />D-044569. The proposed extension would surround the abandoned Edwards Mine <br />located on adjacent federal coal lease D-052501. The extension is proposed to <br />replace coal reserves within the presently-mined federal lease that is <br />considered unmineable at present due to high methane conditions and bad mine <br />' roof conditions.
