Dc111. of h'r!h:r-fi r'fC.'iR!gCP':
January 6, 1982
My staff has reviewed your proposal for wildlife studies within Dorchester
Colomines' Fruita Mines permit area. It is our opinion that the scope of work
presented in this proposal represents the minimum necessary for adequate documenta-
tion of baseline wildlife conditions. It is also.our opinion that the scope of work
proposed would be sufficient to fulfill pertinent requirements of 34-33-101 et sec,
C.R.S., 1973 if completed and appropriately summarized and presented.
One suggested minor modification is cutting back aerial censusing of big
game for each season of the year to winter only. Seasonal use in the permit area
for the other three seasons can be accomplished on foot, horseback, from a vehicle,
or most likely, a combination of these three methods. We will be happy to discuss
this with you as your plans develop. Your aerial census work will be of greater
value to you and us both if you will arrange to have District Wildlife Manager Joe
Gumber fly with you since he does similar counts for us in your area.
Thank you for the opportunity to review your proposal. We look forward to
working closely with you.
Cordially,
~,T,~. d? Cam//o,-
~~~
Perry D.
