recommendations in an Exhibit. For the eight wells mentioned in Part VI, Well Monitoring
of Exhibit AB, more detail regarding which wells are to be monitored is necessary.
Information on well location, well elevation, ownership, use (domestic, agricultural, etc.)
total depth, baseline yield, baseline water level, measuring point elevations, etc, should be
included. Please review this portion of the water monitoring plan and submit new and
revised information.
Northfield Response: No specific response provided to this question.
DRMS Response: See question #34 for resolution to this issue.
17a. In the BBA Water Consultants report referenced above (Exhibit K), one well, permit
number 222887, completed in or close to the Ocean Wave coal seam, is identified as
having a potential water level change due to mine-related dewatering, from 0 to
fifteen(IS) feet. Impacts to other wells are not guantified due to estimates that they will
not be affected by mining. Please add this well to the proposed monitoring under Part VI
of Exhibit AB.
Northfield Response: Monitoring tiers and chart include details and specifics. The house
and shop in question use municipal water.
DRMS Response: See question #34 for resolution to this issue.
17b. Based on review of Appendices 1, 2 and S presented in the BBA report it appears that two
additional wells should be added to the monitoring plan including Well 79354 and Well
3759 due to their completion zone in close proximity to the underlying Ocean Wave Coal
(see Appendix 1 -Cross-Section A-A ). There is also a house located in T19S, R70W,
Section I1 located south of Brookside very close to the angle of draw and subsidence
monitoring zone. There is no registered well listed for this location, but it should be
verged if a domestic or livestock well exists at this location.
Northfield Response: The house and shop in question use municipal water.
DRMS Response: See question #34 for resolution to this issue.
17c. It appears that culverts may be necessary for the south runoff collection ditch where it
crosses the haul road adjacent to Chandler Creek and at the inlet to the sediment pond.
Please review these two areas and evaluate the need for culverts.
Northfield Response: A culvert was added to the drainage plan and to Map 12.
DBMS Response: Response accepted.
21. Please provide the proposed seed mix for use on the topsoil stockpile. (Rule 4.09)
Northfield Response: A temporary seed mix was added to page 2.05.4-10.
