1
750 to 2200 feet. The anticipated total depths of each hole are
presented in the Confidential Appendix 2, Revised Table 1. It is
' anticipated that one hole will be drilled on each location,
though depending upon geologic and hydrologic data needs, any of
the holes may be twinned. Reclamation bond calculations for the
initial seven holes allowed for four of these to be twinned. The
' revised bond estimates for the additional eleven holes
accommodate and additional four twins. No more than eight holes
will be twinned under this NOI.
' It is anticipated that the floor, roof, and coal seam of interest
will be cored for each hole. These cores will be characterized
' for coal quality and rock strength parameters. It is anticipated
that the majority of holes will extend approximately 30 feet
below the Wolf Creek Coal Seam with some extending into the top
of the Trout Creek Sandstone. All holes are planned to be
geophysically logged.
Equipment associated with the drilling operations will include:
' Drilling rig, pipe truck and/or pipe trailer, water truck, core
trailer, crew pick-up truck, and geologist pick-up truck. A
geophysical logging unit will be on site at completion of the
drill hole. Other equipment which will be utilized for drill pad
' construction, and reclamation activities will include a track
dozer of Catapiller D6 size and a small rubber-tire backhoe for
the digging of mud pits.
' The proposed drilling program will involve a number of
preparatory steps prior to the commencement of, and subsequent to
' drilling. These steps include the following: access corridor/
drill pad preparation, drilling, well completion or abandonment,
and reclamation of drill pads and access corridors. Details of
each step is outlined in the following discussion.
Access roads
' The primary access to the exploration area will be by county
road, south of Hayden. As shown on Revised Map 1, county roads
' and existing "unimproved" county roads, will be utilized to
access the drill sites, so as to minimize disturbance associated
with the drilling program.
Four drill locations, PDH-1, PDH-3, PDH-5 and PDH-15 will require
a combined total of 4700 feet of new road access. During the
construction of this temporary access, topsoil will be salvaged
' by windrowing to the uphill side for later redistribution.
Regrading, topsoil distribution and seeding of these accesses
will be conducted upon completion of their use. For the
remainder of the exploration activities, no new road construction
will be required. The drill sites have been located as close as
practically possible to the existing roads and "jeep trails" in
order to minimize disturbance.
